Child Action North West (CANW) work in the heart of communities – often in partnership with other organisations – to end family cycles of deprivation, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of self-esteem, youth crime, teenage pregnancies and broken families.
To mark the start of Foster Care Fortnight, CANW staged a very special 7 a-side football tournament to raise awareness of the support given to foster carers and the children they look after.
Players took to the pitch at CANW headquarters in Wilpshire dressed in shirts with titles including ‘social worker’, ‘foster carer’ and ‘GP’ to highlight the teamwork involved in helping foster children achieve their full potential. The aim was to give people a better understanding of the support foster carers receive and to encourage more people to consider fostering.
